Model Context Protocol

Anthropic has introduced the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a new standard designed to connect AI assistants with data sources such as context repositories and business tools. MCP provides a universal, open standard that simplifies and secures these connections, eliminating fragmented integrations by using a single protocol.

Agent2Agent (A2A) Protocol

Google has launched the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol, which has received support and contributions from more than 50 technology partners.

The A2A protocol allows AI agents to communicate with one another, securely exchange information, and coordinate actions across various enterprise platforms and applications.

This open protocol complements Anthropic's MCP by providing helpful tools and context for agents. A2A addresses challenges associated with deploying large-scale, multi-agent systems, empowering developers to create agents that can connect with any other agent built using the protocol. This offers users the flexibility to combine agents from different providers.

A2A serves as a foundational element for building reliable communication between AI agents and supports the development of enterprise Agentic AI architectures.
